From its location in Orono, Maine, the University of Maine offers students the opportunity to study on campus, as well as through an extensive number of online degree programs. Academic areas within the university include the College of Education and Human Development, the College of Engineering, and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

With rolling admissions and a waiver of the GRE, students can enter the program at any time without arranging to take a standardized test. The university estimates students will take around two years to complete the program.

One of the popular degrees offered through UMaine Online is the Master of Business Administration, which also requires 30 credits and features rolling admissions. Students can get a GMAT waiver for this program, too. Classes a student will take in the program include Statistical Analysis & Modeling for Organizational Operations, Creating & Capturing Value in the Digital Economy, and Management of Contemporary Organizations.

About the University of Maine

The University of Maine in Orono, Maine, is the flagship institution of the university system in that state. The university has status as a space-grant, land-grant, and sea-grant institution. The official colors of the school are light blue, dark blue, and white. The sports teams at the university are nicknamed the Black Bears, and varsity sports teams participate in the America East Conference when they play in NCAA Division I games.

When it was established in 1865, the university was part of the Morrill Act, which was an act signed by the president for the purposes of creating institutions of higher learning across the country. University of Maine Application Requirements

Applying to the University of Maine means selecting an academic program, making sure to take recommended classes while in high school, and sending all required application materials. Those materials include the completed application, official high school transcripts, and standardized test scores. Students with some college experience should also send college transcripts. First-year applicants must also send a school recommendation.

Applying to the graduate school at the University of Maine means submitting all required materials to the university, as well as any ancillary items required by the program itself. Students can qualify for an application fee waiver in certain circumstances. Students should also send letters of recommendation, their official college transcripts, and official scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Students interested in qualifying for fellowships will need to send their materials in by January 15th.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Students who enroll for classes at the University of Maine will pay $9,000 for tuition if they’re Maine residents or $29,310 if they’re from outside the state. Residents of Canada and nearby states in New England receive a tuition discount and pay a reduced rate of $14,850. Tuition online is $11,250 for all students. Students may pay a variety of other fees that include room & board, books & supplies, and travel & miscellaneous costs.

For students in graduate programs, Maine residents pay $8,100 for tuition, out-of-state residents pay $26,388 for tuition, New England residents and Canadians pay $13,374, and the E-Tuition rate is $10,134. Additional mandatory fees come to $1,257 for all students except those paying E-tuition, who pay an added fee of $1,270. Students online can pay per credit with undergraduate residents paying $300 per credit hour and non-residents paying $977 per credit hour.

Financial aid at the University of Maine is handled through the Office of Student Financial Aid. Applicants to the university who submit a FAFSA form can qualify for financial aid in the form of loans, scholarships, grants, and work-study awards. Students may qualify for scholarships when they attend the university that may be awarded on the basis of residency status or academic performance.

Many students who attend university use student loans to help finance their college education. According to the university, the average student who graduates from the university does so with around $25,512 in loan debt. Before receiving any student loans for tuition at the University of Maine, students must sign a master promissory note and complete a session of loan counseling.
