Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis offers on-campus classes, online classes, and hybrid classes that have both an online and a campus-based component. The online Master of Science in Finance is available entirely online and consists of 30 credit hours of coursework. Throughout the program, students will gain the technical expertise they need to manage and measure the returns and risks of organizations’ financial policies as well as an understanding of how organizations can use these policies to achieve their goals. Students will also learn to evaluate the various opportunities for creating value in an organization, use financial resources efficiently, view finance as an integral business function, and appreciate how capital markets value financial securities. Those pursuing the Master of Science in Finance also have the option to add a Master of Business Administration degree. With this dual degree, students may complete both programs in 63 credit hours versus the required 81 credits if they were to pursue the two degrees separately.
The 60-credit-hour Master of Social Work is also completed fully online. The program includes foundation work in social policy, social justice, human rights, diversity, and social work practice in societies, communities, and organizations. Students will explore the specialized fields of practice such as addictions, mental health, tell behavioral health social work, e-social work, and military social work. The program is accredited and offers an “advanced generalist” concentration that prepares students for careers in many settings, including community service agencies, family service agencies, employee assistance programs, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and community mental health agencies.
Students seeking a career in business may consider earning the online Master of Science in Strategic Management. This 30-credit-hour program explores management topics, including entrepreneurship, competitive analysis, operations management, strategic thinking, and organizational development and change. Students will acquire knowledge of the functions of a business enterprise, including identifying means for establishing a competitive advantage, evaluating corporate capabilities, and a working knowledge of concepts and theories used for assessing competitive conditions. Coursework includes operations management, international competitive strategy, and strategic management and leadership. Students may also pursue a dual degree by adding a Master of Business Administration to their Master of Science in Strategic Management.
The online Master of Science in Health Informatics at IUPUI is an interdisciplinary program that integrates knowledge from health information technology, healthcare, informatics, and other disciplines to produce higher quality patient care, increase healthcare efficiencies, and protect and analyze patient data. Students looking to pursue careers as informaticists, coordinators, directors, strategists, and analysts in the field of informatics will play a critical role in healthcare organizations by leading the integration, management, implementation, development, and design of m-health, electronic health record systems, and other technologies. The curriculum consists of 24 credit hours in health informatics core courses and 12 credit hours in informatics or computer science elective courses. Students who graduate from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis with a graduate degree in health informatics are prepared to work with health IT software companies, government agencies, insurance companies, medical offices, and hospitals.

Students pursuing an online graduate degree from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis must submit a completed application and pay a $65 application fee. Applicants must also complete the form of a supplemental question and submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions. Graduate applicants are required to show evidence of a bachelor’s degree earned from a regionally accredited college or university. Other required documents include a resume or curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose, and official GRE test scores.
Tuition and Financial Aid
The exact tuition rate for an online master’s degree at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis will depend on the program chosen. Most programs cost $1,330 per credit hour for both in-state and out-of-state students excluding program fees, application fees, technology fees, student service fees, and other expenses. However, IUPUI offers a number of forms of financial aid to qualified students to help offset the cost of tuition. Graduate students may be eligible for federal loans, grants, work-study programs, and other types of aid so long as they meet the school’s financial aid requirements.
