Jacksonville University students can pursue several online master’s degrees. The Master of Science in Applied Business Analytics, for example, is available for those students who wish to delve into the “nuts and bolts” of what makes businesses run. Students learn advanced problem-solving strategies, data mining and the interpretation of collected data, and applying statistical models for forecasting and marketing. Students who have at least a 3.3 GPA in their undergraduate coursework are exempted from the GRE for this program.
Students who have the same inclination but are interested in the healthcare field can strive to earn the Master of Science in Health Informatics. In this field, people study the interaction of people and technology and devise methods of using those interactions to better the delivery of healthcare services. The degree comprises 33 credit hours, and students must either complete an internship or a research project in the field. Some students may have to take the GRE, particularly if their GPAs are less than 3.0. In these cases, acceptance into the program is both conditional and provisional.

About Jacksonville University
The year was 1934. A brand-new institution of higher learning opened its doors in Jacksonville, Florida for the first time. It was called Porter University and just a year later, the school changed its name to Jacksonville Junior College. For the next 25 years, the college awarded two-year degrees to hundreds of deserving students. In the late 1950s, the college merged with the Jacksonville College of Music, and the new school was dubbed Jacksonville University. Two years later, the university received its first accreditation to award four-year degrees.
In 1963, the college integrated, and President Johnson spoke on the campus. Big-time musical stars performed at the school throughout the 1960s, including both Neil Diamond and Dionne Warwick. Jacksonville University has had a strong musical presence in Florida since its merger. In 1970, the school’s basketball team got all the way to the championship game against mighty Bill Walton and UCLA, losing 80-69. In fact, the Green Dolphins’ sports teams have been successful throughout the school’s history.

Jacksonville University is regionally accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Other than that honor, the university has also earned these accreditations:

Jacksonville University Application Requirements
For undergraduate students, Jacksonville University is a standardized test-optional school, which means that students do not need to take either the SAT or the ACT. Beginning with the 2019 summer session, students may, if they wish, take these tests, but not taking them does not diminish their chances of acceptance. The nursing program and the 4+1 program at Jacksonville University are two undergraduate programs that are exceptions to this rule. If students are unsure about testing, they should call the Office of Admissions.
Students must provide official high school transcripts and write an essay to be considered for admission. There is no minimum GPA requirement, per se, but the median GPA of students who were accepted in the past is 3.47, which translates to a B+ for high schools that provide only letter grades. Of those students who decide to submit either their ACT or SAT scores, the median for each is 22 and 1170, respectively.
Graduate students must submit all official transcripts from each previous institution attended. Student-sent transcripts will not be accepted. Prospective graduate students must also submit a letter of intent and a resume. If a student is applying for a Master of Business Administration or Doctor of Business Administration and is employed, that student’s employer must send a letter of corporate support and a letter of corporate financial support as well. A Master of Fine Arts candidate must also submit a portfolio. International students who seek both undergraduate and graduate degrees must provide proof of English proficiency.
Depending on the field of study, graduate students may have to take the Graduate Management Admission Test, the Graduate Record Exam, or possibly both. Students should check the specific requirements of their chosen field of study at Jacksonville University. There might also be GPA requirements for certain programs, and students should ensure they’ve met those requirements before applying.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate tuition at Jacksonville University, including a maximum meal plan, is $50,750 annually. Summer tuition is $780 per credit hour, and on-campus housing is $220 a week, which includes room, cable television, phone, and unlimited Internet. Students who take 11 or fewer credits pay part-time rates, and veterans receive a discount.
Graduate tuition is charged by the credit hour, and the rates vary from $615, which is the rate for several of the degrees, to $950 for the Doctor of Occupational Therapy. Two degrees, the MBA and the DBA, are charged by the entire program. The rates are $61,360 and $93,000 respectively. Online graduate programs are also charged by the credit hour.
Nearly all students who attend Jacksonville University receive some kind of financial aid. The process begins when the student fills out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, and submits it to the Financial Aid Office. The financial aid officer assigned to each student will make a determination based on student merit, student need, and all applicable laws.
Students may take out loans, receive scholarships or grants, or do work-study. With approval, students may also work “day jobs” off-campus. There are standards that must be maintained for many grants, scholarships, and jobs. Students should contact the awarding bodies or Jacksonville University’s Office of Financial Aid to find out the standards to which they must adhere to keep their aid.
