Southern Illinois University offers several online master’s degree programs designed for those who need flexible class schedules.

The online Master of Architecture at Southern Illinois University prepares graduates for the National Council of Architectural Registration certification. The program broadens an individual’s comprehension of architecture and strengthens communication skills. Students develop critical thinking skills through in-depth analysis of architectural problems as well as increasing collaborative skills. The program is 42 credit hours with a few on-campus sessions required periodically, normally less than one weekend per month. The Master of Science in Quality Engineering and Management creates quality engineering and management experts who are able to plan, coordinate, design, implement and control the quality in manufacturing and service organizations. This expertise allows them to increase productivity, optimize resources, decrease waste and improve product quality. Instruction includes quality assurance, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, project management, and reliability. Courses may include Six Sigma Black Belt II, Service Quality, Human Safety and Risk Management, and Energy Management Systems.

A medical dosimetrist is a member of a radiation oncology field who understands the overall characteristics and clinical relevance of current radiation-related treatments. The Master of Science in Medical Dosimetry at Southern Illinois University provides didactic and clinical experiences that offer avenues to students for professional development and growth. The program covers radiation physics, radiation protection, dose calculations, tumor localization, and other subjects related to medical dosimetry. Clinical experience is required as are conference attendance and presentations. Special project assignments and journal article reviews are included as part of the curriculum. Students choose from two tracks depending on their career goals and background. Track 1 is for those who want to seek a career in medical dosimetry and Track 2 is for those who are currently Certified Medical Dosimetrists with a bachelor’s degree who want to pursue graduate education.

Southern Illinois University Application Requirements

In order to apply for the Master of Architecture program, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. They must have a GPA of 2.7 or higher in the last 60 hours of undergraduate study. Applicants must submit a portfolio of their work unless they are already licensed to practice architecture. Unlicensed architects must submit a brief statement about IDP hours completed. A statement of intent and two letters of recommendation are required of all applicants as well.

Candidates for the Master of Quality Engineering and Management must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be provided and applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in all undergraduate work. They must provide three letters of recommendation and a personal statement as well.

Applicants for the Master of Science in Medical Dosimetry must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. They must have a GPA of at least 2.7 in the last two years of their undergraduate study

Southern Illinois University Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition for all online graduate programs are is $533.07 per credit hour regardless of residency.

Financial aid is available and all students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify. It is recommended that all students complete the FAFSA regardless of income as some aid may be merit-based rather than need-based. The FAFSA must be renewed annually. Financial aid packets for graduate students often only include student loans which must be repaid after graduation. Some scholarships and grants may be available so students are encouraged to speak to a Financial Aid advisor to learn what options they have for paying for college.
