About Ashland University
Ashland University originated on June 28, 1877, when local citizens agreed to raise $10,000 for German Baptist Brethren Church to open a local, coed higher learning institution. The next February, the Ohio Legislature initially chartered it as Ashland College. In Fall 1879, an inaugural class of 60 enrolled at Founders Hall on a 28-acre campus that’s since grown. In 1888, it was acquired by the United Brethren Church and renamed Ashland University. Eight years later, it launched the Ashland Theological Seminary for minster training. By 1972, the Master of Education was devised to improve declining enrollment. Fully accredited in 1988, Ashland experimented with distance adult learning during the 1990s. In 2010, it purchased the MedCentral College of Nursing and began a leading DNP program online. On August 27, 2018, Ashland University received the IMA Award of Excellence for Outstanding Student Chapters. Endowed for $46.4 million, Ashland now educates 6,000 Eagles from 31 countries at a 16:1 ratio online or face-to-face with 100+ clubs like Miracle Network. Ashland University Accreditation Details
On November 15, 2018, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) Board of Trustees voted to extend the Level VI accreditation at Ashland University through 2028 under its 30th president, Dr. Carlos Campo, who received the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Association’s Excellence Award. Located 325 miles northwest via Route 30 in Chicago, this epic 19-state Midwest Region accreditor is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate Ashland’s three associate, 90 bachelor’s, 21 master’s, and three doctoral offerings. Online programs are authorized by the Ohio Board of Regents and the following organizations:

Ashland University Application Requirements
Entering Ashland University is classified “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s because 2,367 of the 3,121 Fall 2017 applicants were accepted for competitive 76 percent selection. The College of Online & Adult Studies seeks post-grad Eagles with regionally accredited bachelor’s prep in relevant fields. A maximum of 12 master’s credits can be transferred if graded “C” or higher. Most online programs require meritorious GPAs above 3.0. Conditional admission might be possible for 2.75-2.99 GPAs though. Online MBA cohorts must satisfy prerequisites, such as Introduction to Accounting and Macroeconomics. Nearly all have prior work experience that averages 36 months each. The Dauch College admits a median 510 GMAT score. Online MEd options currently serve 302 with a mean 3.40 GPA. If taken, average GRE marks are 158 Verbal, 148 Quantitative, and 4.0 Analytical. Qualifying for Ohio or equivalent out-of-state teacher certification is crucial. Online Doctor of Nursing Practice entrants also needs an accredited MSN, state registration, 3.0 GPA, Statistics prerequisite, and 12 months of clinical work.
Ashland University conveniently has rolling graduate admission for each seven-week term. The general priority deadlines are July 15th, September 15th, December 15th, January 30th, and May 15th. Non-U.S. residents typically must apply by July 1st, November 15th, or March 15th. The Online DNP program has a firm deadline of March 31st though. Tuition and Financial Aid
For 2018-19, Ashland University charged affordable average graduate tuition of $6,885 per year full-time. However, each online program had a specific price plus a $15 distance fee. The Online MBA costs $654 per credit or $23,544 total. Non-credit MBA seminars were $412 per credit. International MBA cohorts spent $29,500 for one year. Online MEd degrees were priced at $539 per credit or $16,170 overall. The 33-credit MEd in Educational Leadership costs slightly more at $17,787. Online MA in Corporate & Strategic Communication entrants budgeted $584 per credit or $17,520 for 12 months. Master of Divinity online courses were $630 per credit or $15,120 each year. Online School Nurse Certificate students were billed $529 per credit. The Doctor of Nursing Practice was the most expensive at $690 per credit or $53,130 overall.
According to the NCES College Navigator, the Financial Aid Gateway in Founders Hall gives 98 percent of incoming Ashland Eagles soaring median assistance of $12,432 each for $7.35 million combined. University funds include the Ashbrook Scholarship, Ashland Need Grant, Brethren Church Grant, Honors Program Scholarship, Ministerial Grant, Dr. Morven Baker Scholarship, H&C Babcock Scholarship, Jacob & Kathryn Cripe Scholarship, Hamilton-Hofmeister Scholarship, Howard Emmons Scholarship, Thomas Keplinger Scholarship, and Men with a Mission Scholarship. The Ida B. Wertman Scholarship gifts $1,000 each year to MA in Christian Studies majors online. Students with relatives who’ve finished 32+ credits at Ashland University can receive the $1,000 Legacy Grant. Completing FAFSA applications coded 003012 by March 15th will determine Direct Unsubsidized or Graduate Plus loan amounts. Some Online MEd cohorts qualify for the $4,000 Federal TEACH Grant that requires a four-year service commitment. Online DNP students apply for the National League for Nursing Foundation Scholarships worth up to $8,000.
