About Oklahoma State University
Oklahoma State University originally opened in 1890 in Stillwater, a town in north-central Oklahoma, as a land grant school which means that the government provided the property and initial funds to build a state school that focused on engineering and agricultural fields. Since that time, the university has expanded to include more fields of study and now offers over 200 different major areas. The government also granted sun grant status to the institution, recognizing the contributions made to emerging renewable energy technology and providing additional funding for continuing studies. There are currently five campus locations as well as a growing online platform with a total enrollment of over 35,000 students, and the school currently boasts a teacher-to-student ratio of 20 to 1 in all programs including the online offerings. OSU prides itself on being a leader in all fields from becoming a wind-powered campus to providing 35 graduate degrees and many certificates completely online. The U.S. News and World Report have ranked OSU’s online graduate engineering programs #16 in the country and the MBA programs #38.
