The Briner School of Business offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) online too. Students have the option of taking one or more semesters off before returning the program. They can also take one class each semester or take up to two courses at a time. This program includes a concentration in general business administration, which lets students take classes in various areas of business. Strategic Management, Accounting Management, Human Resource Strategies and Economic Thinking for Managers are some of the courses in the MBA program. Students take eight-week classes that help them finish their studies in less time.

In the online MA in Education program, students can select from four concentrations. The coaching concentration is suitable for gym teachers and educators who work for their churches. Greenville University offers a special education concentration that ranks as one of the best online special education programs in the country. Students can also choose a concentration in teaching English as a second language or curriculum and instruction.

The number of credits that education majors need to take will depend on their concentrations. The curriculum and instruction and special education concentrations include 30 credits, but there are 31 in the teaching English as a second language track and 33 in the coaching concentration. Students who have teaching licenses in Illinois and other states can get endorsements on their licenses through some of the university’s other online programs. Endorsements are available in driver education, middle school education, special education and teaching English as a second language. To earn an endorsement, students will need to take two or more classes in the subject area.

About Greenville University

Greenville University is a private university in the Illinois city of Greenville. Established in 1855 as Almira College, it began life as a school for women. It had an affiliation with the Baptist Church too. Changes to the college led to this affiliation ending and the Free Methodist Church taking control of the campus in 1892. The new owners made the campus coeducational and later changed its name to Greenville University.

One of the main features of the university is its code of conduct, which requires students to sign before they enroll. Those caught violating any of the codes must go before a review board and agree to make changes in their lives to remain in the university. The university’s campus consists of multiple residence halls and apartments for students, but they can also choose to live in one of the rental homes near the campus. Greenville University is a small university today with an enrollment of fewer than 1,000 students.

Greenville University Accreditation Details

Greenville University is one of many schools with regional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), which is why both online and traditional students can submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form helps them qualify for all the financial aid that they might need. The university also has accreditation from the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) for online and traditional education programs.

Greenville University Application Requirements

The MS in Management program requires that incoming students have a bachelor’s degree and a grade point average of 3.0 or above in the last 60 credits of undergraduate courses they took. Students also need to either have a job or work in a volunteer position in which they can do their capstone projects. They will write an essay of 1,000 to 1,500 words to explain how they overcame hardship and how that situation affected them. Greenville also asks for a resume, official transcript and three letters of recommendation.

MBA students must meet the same requirements and also have transcripts that show they took 12 credits of undergraduate courses in business and earned grades of B or higher in each one. Incoming students also need at least two years of professional business experience and a GMAT score.

The MA in Education program accepts both graduate students and undergrads. Undergrads need to submit an ACT or SAT score and a high school transcript. The university expects those students to spend four years in an education program and then transition to the graduate program. They need to apply online and submit any college transcripts they have. Undergrads need to rank in the top 50 percent of their classes, have a GPA of at least 2.25 and score a minimum of 18 on the ACT or 860 on the reading and math sections of the SAT. Greenville encourages students to check on the technical requirements of the online system too.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Students in the management program pay $476 per credit hour and take 33 credits to finish their degrees. MBA students pay the same amount but take 40 credits. They pay a $149 fee when they apply to the university too. Most students pay between $16,000 and $19,000 to complete their graduate degrees online. Education majors pay the same rates and take 30 or more credits to finish their degrees.

Undergrads who earned a degree from Greenville and then enroll in a graduate program receive a 10 percent tuition discount. The eCampus offers textbook rentals for students to help them save money. They pay a low rate to rent their books for the semester and can return them at the end of their classes. Students who use the FAFSA and qualify for loans can sign their loan documents and complete their entrance counseling online. The federal government offers a grace period of six months before students need to make payments on their loans. Some may want to look at the alternative loans that are available for graduate students too. Online master’s students can apply for financial aid from Greenville University every year.
