Penn State Online now offers more than 100 online programs for students at the graduate and doctoral levels, including both degree and certificate programs. Students can earn a Master of Professional Studies in Art Education and develop the skills that art teachers and therapists need. This program allows licensed teachers to continue their education and meet one of the requirements for maintaining their licenses in Pennsylvania. It features 30 credits of classes that are all available online, including Overview of Contemporary School Curriculum, Introduction to Art Education, and Curriculum Design: Theory and Practice.

Designed for those who currently work or want to work in government agencies, this program focuses on the skills that government agents need. Designed for those who want to work in public positions, this program can prepare students to work as administrators in almost any field. They will take classes such as Public Organization and Management, Introduction to Public Policy Analysis, and Organizational Behavior. Pennsylvania State University World Campus is a branch of Pennsylvania State University that features online classes and full degree programs. While some students take classes in the summer or the middle of the school year and enroll full-time in PSU, other students complete their entire degree requirements online. Also called Penn State Online, it can trace its roots back several decades. The university originally offered distance education programs that allowed students to work on their degrees from home. Penn State ended those programs in favor of launching an online campus in the late 1990s.
This campus now offers both undergrad and graduate degree programs online in addition to continuing education programs that is designed for working adults. The university requires that students apply to Penn State itself and the college or department that offers the program they want to study. Once they receive an acceptance letter, they can enroll in an online program. After a student finishes a program, he or she has the right to walk with other recent graduates on the Penn State campus. Pennsylvania State University World Campus graduates receive the same diplomas as those who attended and completed a traditional degree program do.
Pennsylvania State University World Campus Accreditation Details
As Pennsylvania State University World Campus is simply a branch of Penn State, it has all the same accreditation that the main campus does. It has national recognition and regional accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Graduate students will find that this form of accreditation gives them the option of applying for financial aid and using any of the loans or other funds that they get. They can also use Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditation to transfer credits into a Penn State program or to another university. Pennsylvania State University World Campus also has specialty accreditation for several of its online degree programs.
Pennsylvania State University World Campus Application Requirements
When applying to Pennsylvania State University World Campus, students must meet the general requirements of the university and any requirements for the programs they want to enter. The university itself requires that an applicant have a bachelor’s degree from a college or university with regional accreditation. It will also accept students who have degrees equivalent to a bachelor’s degree. Students must also provide official transcripts from any schools that they attended and received credits from, even if they did not graduate from those schools.
Most students will need to submit an official standardized test score also. Students can take the GMAT or the GRE. The university will waive this requirement for students applying to a doctoral program and have more professional experience. Prospective graduate students must complete the university’s online application and submit at least two references also. The university asks for a full name and email address for each reference.
Select online programs have other requirements as well. Some will ask for a copy of the student’s most recent and up-to-date resume or an essay. The essay usually asks students to write no more than 600 words on how attending Pennsylvania State University World Campus will help them meet their career goals. Students may need to submit a portfolio that demonstrates some of their past work too. A few programs also require that students complete an online interview.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Pennsylvania State University World Campus makes it easy for students to find out how much their individual tuition will cost. Students can visit the university’s tuition and financial aid page. They will enter the level at which they want to study and the program that interests them. The site will then show them how many full-time and part-time students pay. Though the costs differ between programs, most students pay around $1,185 per credit hour. They will also pay an information technology fee based on the number of credits that they take.
Graduate students should fill out the FAFSA and submit the form around the same time that they apply to the university. This form allows them to apply for the unsubsidized loans available from the federal government. The university itself offers a small number of scholarships for online grad students enrolling in select programs. Pennsylvania State University World Campus will accept private loans too.
