About Pennsylvania State University World Campus

Pennsylvania State University World Campus is a branch of Pennsylvania State University that features online classes and full degree programs. While some students take classes in the summer or the middle of the school year and enroll full-time in PSU, other students complete their entire degree requirements online. Also called Penn State Online, it can trace its roots back several decades. The university originally offered distance education programs that allowed students to work on their degrees from home. Penn State ended those programs in favor of launching an online campus in the late 1990s.

This campus now offers both undergrad and graduate degree programs online in addition to continuing education programs that it designed for working adults. The university requires that students apply to Penn State itself and the college or department that offers the program they want to study. Once they receive an acceptance letter, they can enroll in an online program. After a student finishes a program, he or she has the right to walk with other recent graduates on the Penn State campus. Pennsylvania State University World Campus graduates receive the same diplomas as those who attended and completed a traditional degree program do.
