McKenna is a former high school English teacher who quit her job in teaching to pursue a career in country music. But when her children got diagnosed with a rare disease and life-threatening food allergies, she had to put her dreams on hold to become a medical caretaker. Now, she is a freelance writer and content strategist based in Franklin, TN and enjoys a simple life at home with her high school sweetheart and three energetic boys.
Born in Connecticut, and having recently returned to the Nutmeg State, Julie holds a BA in English and History. She spent 15 years as a journalist and photographer before joining Fast Online Master’s as an editor and online relations coordinator. Julie lives with a couple of geriatric cats and one very opinionated parrot and spends her free time cooking, working with animal rescue and rehabilitation, cycling, and writing the occasional poem or two.
