Three of the colleges at Texas A&M University at Kingsville offer graduate degree programs that students can complete online. The first of those is a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering, which is available from its Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering. Available for both full-time and part-time students, it includes two different options. Students can do a thesis and complete a total of 30 credits, or they can take the non-thesis track and take a total of 26 credits. Both tracks include courses such as Principles of Optimization and Supply Chain Management.

The College of Education and Human Performance at Texas A&M University at Kingsville offers six graduate degree programs and one certificate program online. Only those who have a doctoral degree can earn a certificate in higher education administration and leadership through the university. Five of the university’s online graduate programs are master’s programs. Students can study adult education, kinesiology, special education, instructional technology, or education administration. The university also offers an education doctoral program in bilingual education. Some of these programs will only accept licensed teachers.

A Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is available through the Texas A&M University at Kingsville College of Business Administration. As long as students complete all the prerequisites, they can finish the program in one year. Those who need to take prerequisites may take up to 16 to 18 months to earn their degrees. The program features three electives and 21 credits of core classes. Those core classes cover various business subjects and include Strategic Management, Leading a Sustainable Organization, Accounting and Value Creation, and Marketing Management and Value Creation.

Texas A&M University at Kingsville is one of the public colleges that make up the Texas A&M system. Established in 1917 as the East Texas Normal School, it did not actually open until after World War I ended. It then used the name South Texas State Teachers College because its curriculum included education programs. In the 1980s, it became part of the A&M system but did not become Texas A&M University at Kingsville until 1993. The university often uses the shortened name of TAMUK to distinguish it from the other A&M campuses.

Located in Kingsville, TAMUK has a suburban campus that covers more than 1,600 acres. Though many of its students enroll in traditional degree programs, the number of students signing up for online programs increased as the university expanded its online options. The university currently offers online programs at the graduate level from three separate colleges. U.S. News and World Report ranked TAMUK within the top 230 to 300 colleges in the United States in several different years and also listed it as one of the most affordable American colleges. The same publication ranked its environmental engineering program as one of the nation’s best. Total enrollment at Texas A&M University at Kingsville includes more than 9,200 students, with more than 1,000 of those being post-graduate and graduate students.

Texas A&M University at Kingsville Accreditation Details

The industrial engineering program available online from TAMUK has accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). As the university has accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), it can give online students full degrees with its name and seal when they graduate. SACS accreditation applies to all the online programs offered by the university.

Texas A&M University at Kingsville Application Requirements

Students applying to the industrial engineering program must have a bachelor’s degree in some area of engineering or computer science. They also need some professional work experience that they show on a resume. The university will only accept those who took courses in statistics and optimization. TAMUK asks for a transcript to make sure that students had a GPA of 3.0 and that they did not take any classes more than twice.

All the education graduate programs at the university have different requirements. These students must have a bachelor’s degree in the education field. They can submit their applications via the Apply Texas website, which has multiple sections they need to complete. The university also asks that they take a standardized test and submit their scores. A minimum score of 288 on the GRE or 388 on the MAT is another requirement. Some of these programs ask that incoming students have valid teaching licenses too.

The MBA program also asks for a test score and requires that students score a minimum of 294 on the GRE or 420 on the GMAT. Those who earned a bachelor’s degree from TAMUK and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher do not need to submit a test score. All students must have a bachelor’s degree from a university with regional accreditation and submit an application by July 15. The deadline for MBA students starting the program in the spring is December 15. All students must use the Apply Texas website to apply.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Full-time graduate students taking at least 10 credits of courses pay the university $5,882 per semester. Students can enroll on a quarter-time basis and pay $4,344 per semester to take up to seven credits. The university also offers a rate for ½ time students who only take six credits. Those students pay $3,832 per semester. The university also charges a nonresident fee for students who do not live in Texas. This fee ranges from $4,980 to $8,300 a semester based on the number of credits they take.

Though online students can qualify for federal aid, they will not get aid if they drop below ½ time status. Full-time students and those taking more credit hours to get access to unsubsidized loans in the range of $20,000 a year. Other loans include government PLUS loans and the programs offered by alternative lenders. Some programs offer scholarships and grants too. MBA students can get a College of Business Administration scholarship if they have a high GPA standardized test score and some professional experience. They need to submit a resume and an application to get a scholarship. The deadline for scholarship applications is at the end of November each year. Graduate students can apply for financial aid from the Texas A&M University at Kingsville when they submit their applications to an online program.
