The Master of Science (MS) in Applied Family Science is one of the university’s top social science programs. It prepares students for working with children and young adults and their families. Students can also do a thesis and get credit for their work instead of taking more classes.

A dual degree program available from the university lets students earn a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with either an MS or an MBA with a concentration in health care administration. The dual program requires that students take classes from both departments and asks that they have both nursing degrees and licenses. Through the Master of Education in Applied Technology, students with valid teaching licenses can learn about educating students online and using new resources. It features Curriculum Development, Psychology of Learning, Culture, and Learning Environments, and Assessment and Evaluation. Administration of human services, homeland security, nursing leadership, and teaching and learning management are some of the other majors available for online graduate students.

About Wilmington University

Wilmington University is a private university that offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programs both online and in Delaware. Established in 1968, it opened as Wilmington College and had an enrollment of fewer than 20 students. Enrollment grew rapidly in the 1980s through the modern days to include more than 20,000 students. Since becoming Wilmington University or WilmU, the reputation of the school grew. U.S. News and World Report rank it as one of America’s best colleges and one of the best online schools. Washington Monthly also ranks WilmU as one of the top colleges in the country. Through the College of Online and Experiential Learning, WilmU offers nearly 100 programs that include degree and certificate options for students. In addition to New Castle, the university has a second campus in Brandywine and Dover, Delaware. There are also site locations in New Jersey where students can earn credits.

Wilmington University Accreditation Details

All the degree programs available at Wilmington University have the same accreditation that the university itself does. This is a type of regional accreditation that comes from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). With this type of accreditation, the university can accept the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and award financial aid packages to students who show need on the form. Some of the other accreditation held by Wilmington comes from the American Bar Association (ABA), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE).

Wilmington University Application Requirements

Students should check with the university to make sure that they meet all the requirements for a specific degree program. Those applying to the MBA program need to take prerequisites in math, finance, economics, and accounting and score C grades or higher in each one. They will submit their transcripts and attend a conference with the head of the program. Though Wilmington allows students to enroll in the program, it will not let them become full-time students until the university receives their transcripts and they take an introduction class. Students who take prerequisites from Wilmington need to maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0.

Most of the university’s online graduate programs have the same application requirements. Students need to apply online and pay the $35 application fee. This allows them to tell Wilmington more about their education and employment histories. Students will then submit transcripts to show that they earned an undergraduate degree from a school with regional accreditation. Some programs require a statement of goals in which students write about what they want to do at the university and in the future. They can save this statement as a Word document or a PDF file and submit it online. Wilmington also allows prospective graduate students to meet with admissions specialists if they need help.

Tuition and Financial Aid

WilmU charges the same tuition rates for online graduate students and those taking classes on any of its campuses. Students pay $488 per credit hour unless they qualify for a military discount. This discount goes to those on active duty status and allows students to pay $300 per credit hour. It is not available for those in guard or reserve branches of the military. Students also pay $25 when they register for classes each semester and $100 or more when they take classes that include a lab.

With the FAFSA, WilmU students can get financial aid for an online master’s degree program. They need to use the official FAFSA website and get an ID that they use on the form, which also requires the WilmU school code. This is what helps them get unsubsidized student loans and PLUS loans. The university asks that they do loan counseling before it will disperse those funds. Students can also qualify for university scholarships when they complete the scholarship application. When applying to and enrolling in the online master’s degree programs at Wilmington University, students can apply for alternative and private loans too.
