University of the Cumberlands Accreditation Details
This private, faith-based university is governed by a Board of Trustees that are formed by highly esteemed persons from Kentucky and other places throughout the United States. It’s received its state accreditation from Kentucky’s Educational Professional Standards Boards. The Registered Nurse-Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree and the Master’s of Science in Nursing-Family Nursing Practitioner program are both accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, education specialist, and doctorate degrees accredits the University of the Cumberlands on the national level. Its initial accreditation occurred in 1964 with a reaffirmation in December 2016 and the next one happens with the Class of 2026.
University of the Cumberlands Application Requirements
When applying to any of the online master’s degree programs, students must submit a graduate application with a fee. All of the undergraduate and graduate coursework from previous accredited colleges or universities must be documented and submitted via official transcripts sent directly from the issuing college or university. An applicant’s GPA must be 2.5 or above. If international students are applying, their international official transcript must be evaluated by one of the following institutions:

It’s best to research the degree programs as well because some applications require further documentation. The Masters of Art in Teaching degree program requires background hours based on the area of emphasis students are looking to apply to, along with three recommendation letters, a criminal background check so candidates can be cleared to work with children, and passing an entrance exam. Admission to the online nursing master’s degree program requires a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher, two letters of reference, a statement of purpose for graduate study, a current registered nurse’s license, and a three-hour graduate or undergraduate course in statistics with a passing grade of at least a C.
Tuition and Financial Aid
When it comes to paying for an online master’s degree program at the University of the Cumberlands, there are a few things to consider. Tuition for many of the online master’s degree programs like justice administration, coaching, digital forensics, information technology, and business administration is $315 per credit hour. An additional technology fee of $50 is included per term too. However, the Master’s in Addiction Counseling is $400 per credit hour but the technology fee is the same $50 per term.
If students are looking for assistance, the University offers a Special Circumstance Appeal or a Budget Appeal Form that can be submitted to reduce costs. The Federal Student Aid Office of the US Department of Education has a website granting access to a wealth of information regarding financial aid and how to apply for it.
