Starting in Spring 2015, FSU’s Master of Applied Computer Science boasts 97 percent job placement at Boeing, Apple, Microsoft, Lockheed Martin, and others after 12 months of full-time practical tech training with the optional Database Concentration. The 30-credit online major led by Dr. George Rinard from Gira Center has virtual classes like Programming Language Structures, Artificial Intelligence, and Web Development leading to the master’s project.

Coordinated by Dr. Kara Platt from Lowndes Hall, the Master of Science in Nursing starts thrice yearly for Frostburg RNs pushing careers forward into advanced Nursing Administration or Nursing Education tracks for more medical responsibility. The 36-credit, CCNE-accredited degree prepares for the field’s 35 percent growth by 2022 with flexible courses like Health Finance, Curriculum Design, and Systemic Analysis that incur 270 practicum hours total.

Frostburg State University was established on March 31, 1898, as the State Normal School No. 2 after Baltimore by 141 representatives in the State Legislature. Four years later, it welcomed an inaugural class of 57 to Old Main, which was proudly funded by Frostburg Mining Journal’s J. Benson Oder. Initially led by Edmund Dandridge Murdaugh, the School provided a two-year elementary education program. By 1935, it received a four-year charter to become the State Teachers College at Frostburg. Adopting its current name in 1987, Frostburg State University joined today’s 12-site University System of Maryland the next Spring. In 2000, FSU received the first-ever Higher Education Award for Leadership in National Service. Frostburg State University Accreditation Details

On November 27, 2017, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) certified that Frostburg State University meets its 14 “Characteristics of Excellence” by reaffirming the Level V institutional accreditation for another 10 years under the 15th president, Dr. Ronald Nowaczyk, an American Council on Education Fellow. Located 246 miles east via I-76 in Philadelphia, this legitimate six-state DC Metro accreditor is authorized by the U.S. Education Department to ensure the academic fitness of FSU’s 47 baccalaureate, 17master’s, one doctoral, and eight certificate programs. Frostburg State University Application Requirements

Signing up for Frostburg State University is labeled “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s since 2,484 of the 3,436 Fall 2017 applicants were okayed for just 72 percent acceptance. Post-grad Bobcats, including Online@FSU Division students, must have culminated 120-130 credits during accredited baccalaureate education. Specifically, Online MSN cohorts need valid licensure from nursing training with prerequisites like Statistics, Health Assessment, and Human Anatomy. Skipping conditional admission requires overall undergrad GPAs above 3.0. Averages of 2.75 to 2.99 are considered with five years of relevant full-time experience. MBA Online entrants take the Graduate Management Admission Test for at least 400 scores. On average, Online M.S. candidates present a 153 verbal, 158 quantitative, and 4.5 analytical writing GRE mark. Master of Education Online students must qualify for K-12 Maryland teaching certification with passing Praxis grades too.

At Frostburg State University, the Graduate Office typically has rolling admission until two weeks before the semester starts. However, the Online M.S. in Recreation Management only reviews forms until June 1st yearly. The Master of Applied Computer Science also has priority dates of March 1st for Fall and November 1st for Spring. Final deadlines internationally are June 1st and October 15th always. Accordingly, complete the $45 application online via CollegeNET accounts or on paper downloaded from Adobe Acrobat. Official transcripts in sealed envelopes are mailed to 101 Braddock Road in Frostburg, MD 21532. Tuition and Financial Aid

For 2018-19, Frostburg State University is charging online Maryland master’s students $433 per credit or $1,299 by course. Non-resident graduates pay $557 per credit or $1,671 each online class. Hybrid students budget for $121 in extra fees; however, online-only schedules simply add $17 per credit for a technology fee. Annual master’s attendance averages just $7,434 to $9,558. One example, the Master of Education in Special Education Online, costs $16,887 to $23,394 total. Please note that Master of Science in Nursing prices slightly differ with an $8 fee per course.

According to the NCES College Navigator, the Office of Financial Aid in Pullen Hall disburses $21.19 million combined in amounts averaging $7,169 for 61 percent of full-time FSU Bobcats. Master’s funds include the Eugene Flinn Excellence Award, Paul D. Vandenberg Education Scholarship, Richard Johnson, MD Scholarship, Laura Ann Collins Memorial Scholarship, Hedrick Teacher Excellence Award, Borden Mining Company Scholarship, Ethel Hollinger Malchenson Scholarship, and Harold R. Rowe International Scholarship. Graduate assistantships are open until March 15th or October 15th yearly with minimum 3.0 GPAs. Armed Forces members receive VA tuition benefits from the 2018 Forever GI Bill. Taking six or more credits online qualifies for Direct Unsubsidized and Grad Plus loans, so file FAFSA forms coded 002072. Online M.Ed. in Special Education majors could claim the $4,000 TEACH Grant by signing year-long teaching contracts. Maryland residents also pursue the Delegate Scholarship, Senatorial Scholarship, and Janet L. Hoffman Loan Assistance Repayment Program.
