About East Carolina University
When East Carolina University (ECU) was founded as a teacher’s training college in 1907, few people could have guessed the extent to which the venerable ECU would grow in the coming decades. Bachelor’s degree programs were added in 1921 with a master’s degree program following in 1929. By the 1940s the curriculum had expanded to include a liberal arts degree, but it was not until 1967 that the institution began to offer a true diversity of degree programs. Today, the university boasts an enrollment of nearly 22,000 undergrads and almost 6,000 graduate students.
East Carolina’s physical presence in Greenville, North Carolina has vastly expanded as well. It includes three campuses: the Main Campus, West Research Campus, and the Health Sciences Campus. East Carolina University Application Requirements
Before applying for any master’s degree program at East Carolina, the student must already hold a bachelor’s degree from a college that is recognized by a regional accrediting body. From there, the applicant must study the specific admissions requirements for their program of choice. Everything from the application deadline to the documentation required may vary among programs.
In general, the admissions process begins with an online application and payment of the application fee. Students must include a statement of purpose with their application. Tuition and Financial Aid
Residents of North Carolina who enroll in one of East Carolina’s online master’s degree programs can expect to pay approximately $250 per semester hour. Non-residents will pay nearly $900 for every semester hour. Certain master’s degree programs require additional one-time or per semester hour fees, so it is vital for prospective students to fully review the schedule of fees before enrolling.
To make education more affordable, East Carolina enables students to use financial aid, grants, and scholarships.
