Harding University offers several of its degrees online. One popular online program at Harding University is its Master of Ministry program, which requires 36 credits for the non-thesis option that features a three-credit-hour capstone project. Some of the classes a student will take include Old Testament Theology for Ministry, Moral Theology (Ethics in Ministry), and Theological Foundations in Contemporary Culture.
Another popular program for online learning at Harding University is its Master of Business Administration program, which was recently restructured to feature a Christ-centered educational experience. Degree seekers benefit from live lectures and one-on-one advising, as well as interactions and discussions with fellow classmates. Students can finish the program in just 15 months or four semesters by completing 36 credit hours of 10 core courses and two elective courses. The program has three starting dates throughout the year in August, January, and May. Classes students will take in the program include Marketing Management, Managerial Finance, Corporate Strategy & Planning, and Managing People & Organizations. Students will also get to choose from several elective courses in management including Conflict Management, Resource Management, and Operations Management.
Students with an interest in furthering their teaching careers may wish to pursue one of the online graduate degrees in teaching from the university. About Harding University
Harding University is a private school located in Searcy, Arkansas that was established in 1924. The school is affiliated with the Churches of Christ and is the largest private university in the state with more than 5,900 students attending classes on campus or online. The school’s suburban campus in Searcy covers 350 acres, and the school’s official colors are black and gold. Students on sports teams play in NCAA Division II games as the Bisons. When it was founded, the school was named after a minister and educator who was associated with the Churches of Christ. Over its century of existence, the school has grown to include nine different colleges offering more than 100 majors and minors.
Some of the colleges within the university include the College of Arts & Humanities, the College of Allied Health, and the College of Bible & Ministry. Several sub-departments exist within the colleges, too, and the university also has an extra campus in Memphis called the School of Theology. The Memphis campus features a large and well-known theological library. There are no fraternities or sororities at the university, but there are a variety of social clubs available to students who attend the university. In the spring, the university holds a popular musical production called Spring Sing, which is a performance from students that often results in more than 12,000 audience members.
Harding University Accreditation Details
Accreditation for Harding University comes from the Higher Learning Commission, and the university also maintains accreditations for several of its programs with various groups. The Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Programs accredited the athletic training program in 2007, and the program underwent successful reaccreditation in 2016. The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs first accredited the Paul R. Carter College of Business Administration in 1992, and the college was reaccredited most recently in 2011. The Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET has accredited the programs in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The Council for Interior Design Accreditation has accredited the interior design program.
Harding University Application Requirements
Applying to Harding University begins with applying online through the school’s official online application, or students may apply using a traditional application submitted via regular mail. Students who want to live on campus will need to pay a $140 housing deposit, and students will also need to forward their official transcripts to the university from high school or any colleges previously attended. Students applying to undergraduate programs must take the ACT or SAT, and students must have their scores officially submitted directly from the testing agencies. Application requirements for graduate programs are similar, but some programs require additional application materials. For example, the program in Communication Sciences & Disorders requires that students have a competitive GRE score, a suitable GPA on applicable coursework, and at least three letters of evaluation.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition for undergraduate students at Harding University is $19,140 a year, and all students pay the same tuition rate since the school is private. Students will also need to pay a $500 technology and academic enrichment fee and may also need to pay $3,346 for meals and $3,658 for a place in a residence hall if they choose to live on campus. Overall, students can expect to pay $26,644 per year for undergraduate tuition, meals, and housing. Tuition for graduate programs varies based on the program, and the university charges its tuition per semester hour. For example, tuition for the Professional Counseling and Marriage & Family Therapy programs is $523 per semester hour. Tuition for the graduate programs in education is $470, and tuition for the doctoral programs in education is $588.
Financial aid at Harding University is available through grants, scholarships, Federal Work-Study programs, federal student loans, and programs for veterans. Students will submit their FAFSA form in advance of enrolling at the university and will receive a letter detailing their award from the Office of Financial Aid Services. To qualify for financial aid, students must be successfully admitted to the university, as well as submit any follow-up information requested by the financial aid office. Most financial aid is only available to Harding University students enrolled in six or more hours of study each semester.
