The University of Central Florida was established in the early 1960s as a school for people working at the nearby Kennedy Space Center and the neighboring air force station. The public university was once known as Florida Technological University and was renamed in the late 1970s. University of Central Florida Application Requirements

Admission to the University of Central Florida requires that students gather a variety of items such as a non-refundable application fee, official high school transcripts, and standardized test scores. The university shares that achieving the minimum requirements for admission does not guarantee a student will receive a letter of acceptance. Additionally, state regulation allows the university to deny applicants admission due to past misconduct. When applying as a first-year student, students must show evidence of having taken specific courses in high school. Those courses include four units of English, three units of natural science, and three units of social studies. Students must also complete four units of mathematics beginning with Algebra I and above, two units in the same foreign language, and two electives from one of these main five areas.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition at the University of Central Florida is $105.07 per credit with non-residents also paying an extra fee of $511.06 per credit. All students will also pay a variety of other fees like the Capital Improvement Fee, Activity & Service Fee, and a Health Fee. Students who enroll in online courses will also pay a Distance Learning Course Fee of $18, which applies to both in-state and out-of-state residents. For UCF Online classes at the graduate level, Florida residents will pay $327.32 per credit hour, and non-residents will pay $694.82 per credit hour. The increased fee for non-residents includes an extra fee of $350.00 per credit hour. Certain graduate online programs charge different tuition rates such as the Master of Social Work Program Online Track, which costs $487.45 per credit and the Master of Science in Health Sciences – Executive Health Services Administration program which costs $772.69 per credit.
